Li Xingwang visited the Foreign Affairs Office of the CPC Provincial Committee to conduct high-quality foreign affairs cooperation

       On March 10th, Li Xingwang, Secretary of the Party Committee of the University, together with the school delegates, had a symposium with the Office of Foreign Affairs Commission of Shaanxi Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China in Xi’an. Relevant issues were discussed in the meeting in terms of establishment of a high-quality foreign affairs cooperation mechanism between the University and the Foreign Affairs Office of Shaanxi Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, which aims to boost the service of the national strategy of the University, and to establish the benchmark of the "Belt and Road" construction. Yao Hongjuan, director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the CPC Provincial Committee, said that the provincial office shall fully support the University’s work of personnel training, scientific research, overseas service and joint education, and make new contributions to international exchanges and cooperation with NWAFU.

Before the meeting, Li Xingwang, secretary of the university party committee, talked with Yao Hongjuan, director of the foreign affairs office of the provincial party committee.

       At the meeting, Vice President Luo Jun introduced the progress and breakthrough made in the current international cooperation and exchange from the work of the Silk Road Agricultural Education and Technology Innovation Alliance, the construction of Shanghai Cooperation Base, and the South-South cooperation, and reported the work matters for the support from the Foreign Affairs Office of the Provincial Party Committee in the next step. Subsequently, Zhao Xining, vice president of Arid Zone Water-Saving Agriculture Research Institute, Zhang Zhengmao, chief expert of Kokeshetao Demonstration Park, Kazakhstan, Zhu Yuchun, director of China-Russia Research Center, Hai Jiangbo, director of Africa Research Center, and Liu Xuebo, director of International Exchange Department introduced and exchanged ideas on their respective research fields and work content.

        After the experts’ speech, Huang Yong, deputy director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Provincial Party Committee, Cao Hui, full-time vice chairman of the Provincial Friendship Association, Li Anjun and Ji Wenkui, second-level inspector of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Provincial Party Committee, and Ban Hui, director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Provincial Party Committee, Liu Suping, Minister of the Eurasian Department of the Friendship Association, responded to the concerns of the school and the participating experts one by one, and made in-depth exchanges on promoting the development of Shaanxi's foreign exchanges and cooperation.

       Yao Hongjuan highly affirmed our school's achievements in international cooperation and exchanges. She said that international exchanges are an important link in enhancing the image of the country. Northwest A&F University has been making use of its expertise in agricultural science and education resources and has always adhered to the mission of enhancing Shaanxi and the country's international image. In term of opening up the international market, talents training, scientific research, oversea services and joint school running, etc., the Foreign Affairs Office of the Provincial Party Committee shall fully play its role as a bridge to support the university to steadily carry out foreign cooperation and exchanges. With high quality foreign affairs Work services, both sides will collaboratively push forward the high-quality economic and social development in Shaanxi.

        On behalf of the university, Li Xingwang expressed his heartfelt thanks to the Foreign Affairs Office of the CPC Provincial Committee for its long-term care and support for the university, and emphasized that the university should accelerate the construction of a world-class agricultural university, boost the "Belt and Road" construction and serve the development of Shaanxi Province. First, the university shall continuously deepen the cooperation mechanisms of the Silk Road Agricultural Education Science and Technology Innovation Alliance, advance the participation in agro-related fields in countries along the routes, and promote economic and social exchanges, cooperation and development of these countries. Second, the university shall continuously promote international cooperation and exchanges in agricultural science and technology. In particular, with the high-level research platform and academic characteristics, NWAFU shall strive to solve the scientific and key technical problems in the “Belt and Road” regional agricultural development and to build a modern agricultural science and technology cooperation center for future communication. Third, to accelerate the opening up and development of agriculture and the construction of overseas agricultural science and technology demonstration parks, the university shall strengthen cooperation with Central Asian countries and Chinese-funded agriculture-related enterprises in the selection and breeding of fine grain varieties, production and processing of grain and oil, and explore ways to develop agriculture and food production between neighbour countries so as to ensure the national food security. Fourth, to consolidate international personnel training and cultural exchanges, the university shall continue to train more high-level agricultural science and technology professionals who know China and love China, and to promote cultural and people-to-people exchanges between China and other countries.
