Recently, the Ministry of Education announced the results of the 2020 Chinese Government Scholarship for Outstanding Foreign Students in China. Niyazbekova, Zhannur (Chinese name: Zhang Nuo), a Kazakh doctoral candidate majoring in Preventive Veterinary Medicine from the College of Veterinary Medicine, and Roy, Rana (Chinese name: Wang Yi), a Bangladeshi doctoral candidate majoring in Environmental Science from the College of Natural Resources and Environment, were among the winners.

After Zhang Nuo came to China in 2017, she started to learn Chinese from scratch. In addition to intensive learning in class, she “picked up” Chinese words from various scenes in daily life. Even the local dialect “nia-nia” (interjection) in Yangling, Shaanxi Province has been incorporated into her “corpus”. Now she can not only communicate fluently in Chinese, but also express her thoughts with idioms such as “Mao Sui Zi Jian” (Self-recommendation) and “Qi Kai De Sheng” (Achieving victory). From time to time, she also makes a few witty words such as “It is tiring to be alive, so is why we are called humans”. In 2020, she went to Heyang County and Zhenba County of Shaanxi Province three times to participate in the “Rural Poverty Alleviation” activities, telling the world about China in her eyes. Wang Yi entered the College of Natural Resources and Environment in 2016 to study for his doctorate degree. He worked hard to overcome language communication barriers, quickly become integrated with Chinese students. He also actively spoke at the scientific research team meeting, listened carefully to the progress of his counterparts in scientific research, and shared his scientific research advancements, which impressed others by his kindness, modesty and positiveness. During his studies, he published three SCI papers as the first author and the other three papers as a participant.
