Two reports on international agricultural development released

Two reports on agricultural development in Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) countries were officially released on Oct 25 in Yangling in Shaanxi province, Northwest China, during the 27th China Yangling Agricultural High-tech Achievements Expo which is held between Oct 22 and 26.

The two reports, named "Report on the Development of Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Capacity of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (2009-2018)" and "Analysis Report on Needs of Agricultural Technology Exchange, Training and Demonstration in SCO Countries (2019)", were jointly written and researched by experts from Northwest Agricultural and Forestry University, the Management Committee of Yangling Agricultural High-tech Industry Demonstration Zone, the Overseas Agricultural Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Agricultural Information Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Chinese Science Center of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences, and the Modern Agricultural Development Research Center of Northeast Agricultural University.

The first report, the "Report on the Development of Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Capacity of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (2009-2018)", takes the group of 20 countries as a reference, comprehensively reviews the development of the agricultural science and technology innovation capacity of eight SCO member states, four observer countries and six dialogue partners, and comprehensively analyzes the development level, change characteristics and internal motivation of the agricultural science and technology innovation ability of SCO countries between 2009 and 2018. Through in-depth scientific evaluation and analysis, it argues we should strive to understand and master the development trends of the agricultural science and technology innovation ability of various countries, and provide data support for promoting the technical training and exchanges between SCO countries.

The "Analysis Report on Needs of Agricultural Technology Exchange, Training and Demonstration in SCO Countries (2019)" makes an in-depth analysis of the demand content of agricultural technology exchanges, training and demonstration in SCO countries in four aspects: the necessity of training and demonstration; the general situation of agricultural development; demand; and existing problems and safeguarding measures. It carried out agricultural technology exchange and training for SCO countries, and adds that demonstration has an important strategic significance.

According to Wu Pute, president of Northwest Agricultural and Forestry University and president of SCO Modern Agricultural Development Research Institute, the two reports comprehensively elaborate the SCO countries' agricultural science and technology innovation ability, training and demonstration needs; provide an important basis for national agricultural science and technology innovation macro-control and management; enhance the sharing of agricultural technology resources, complementary advantages and collaborative innovation between SCO countries; and promote the overall improvement of the national agricultural science and technology innovation ability.

As an important, comprehensive and objective book on the agricultural development of SCO countries, it will provide an important reference for scientific and technological workers who pay attention to the development of agricultural technology and industrial investment in SCO countries, as well as domestic and foreign governments and relevant international organizations, and will also become an important indicator for the development of agricultural cooperation among SCO countries, Wu said.
