Invitation to 2020' Silk Road Agricultural Education and Research Cooperation Forum

  To actively respond to the Belt and Road Initiative, and further strengthen the cooperation in agricultural education, science and technology between countries along the Silk Road, Northwest A&F university, with the concerted effort of all members, initiated the establishment of the Silk Road Agricultural Education and Research Innovation Alliance in 2016. So far, 85 research institutions and enterprises from 17 countries have joined the alliance, and remarkable achievements have been made in personnel training, scientific research, technology promotion, people to people exchanges and think tank construction. In 2019, the alliance was recognized as one of the first batch of national agricultural science and technology innovation alliances by the Ministry of agriculture and rural areas of China.

     The outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic has caused adverse influence on the alliance members' face-to-face cooperation and direct personnel exchange. In order to continuously deepen the cooperation among alliance members while combating the pandemic, the Alliance Secretariat, in accordance with the principle of “communication should not be prevented by the pandemic” and regulations of the Alliance, is planning to host the 2020’ Silk Road Agricultural Education and Research Cooperation Forum from 23 Oct. 2020 to 24 Oct. 2020, and the opening ceremony of it will be held at 15:00 (GMT+8), 23 Oct. 2020.

The tentative arrangements for the forum are as follows:

1. Agenda

1) To hold the meeting of the members of the Silk Road Alliance

To discuss and revise the regulations and action plan of the alliance; review the work report of the alliance; re-election of permanent members of the alliance

2) To hold 2020' Silk Road Agricultural Education and Research Cooperation Forum

Discussion centered on the theme of “the integration of science and education of modern agriculture among the countries along the belt and road” will be held. Two topics, “Green and healthy development of Agriculture” “talent cultivation among countries along the Silk Road” will also be addressed. Participants will have more dialogue with each other to find solutions to the problems of common concern in the field of agricultural science and technology education by better integrating the science and education, with the aim of promoting the harmonious development of mankind, and bringing mutual benefits to agricultural science and technology education in countries along the silk road.
