Organized by the Secretariat of the Silkroad Agricultural Education and Research Innovation Alliance, the 2018 Silkroad Agricultural Education and Research Innovation Alliance Permanent Council and the Silkroad Agricultural Education and Research Innovation Forum were held at the University of Novi Sad, Serbia from July 2nd to 5th. Our university’s President Wu Pute attended the forum, and nearly 120 representatives from 35 units in 7 countries including China, Serbia, Russia, Kazakhstan, Poland, Jordan and the Netherlands participated this event.
On the afternoon of July 2, the Permanent Council of the Alliance was convened. According to the league's charter, it was decided that the President of Northwest A&F University, Wu Pute, took over as the Secretary-General of the Alliance. The meeting reviewed the last year's work report by Luo Jun, the Vice President of the university, on behalf of the Alliance Secretariat, and conducted a lively discussion on the work plan for the next year. Representatives of 13 permanent directors spoke separately. According to the discussion opinions of the meeting, Secretary-General Wu Pute summarized the seven-point consensus and was unanimously affirmed by the participants. The meeting also studied the acceptance of new members and adopted the application for membership of China Agricultural University, Shanghai Normal University, Heilongjiang August First Land Reclamation University and Serbia Cacak Agricultural College. So far, the membership has expanded from 59 in the first 12 countries to 76 in 14 countries.
The opening ceremony of the 2018 Silkroad Agricultural Education and Research Innovation Forum was hosted by Sanja, deputy director of the Serbian Institute of Land and Vegetable Crops. President of Northwest A&F University, Wu Pute, President of Novi Sad University, Dusan Nikolic, Dean of the College of Agriculture of Novi Sad University, Jan turns made speeches successively.
The forum has arranged a total of 31 reports. Jiang Peimin, Party Secretary of China Agricultural University, Li Xiong, Vice President of Beijing Forestry University, Li Yuexiang, Vice President of Ningxia Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences, Omar Mohammed Ishtayyan Kefawim, Vice President of Jordan University, Krzysztof Szoszkiewicz, Vice President of Poznan University of Life Sciences, Poland, Vladimir Kumpan, Vice President of National Agricultural University of Omsk, Russia and other Chinese and foreign experts and scholars gave a report separately at the forum. Professors of Northwest A&F University, Shan Weixing, Fang Yulin, Wang Yuzhen and Chen Shaolin and others also made reports to the conference on the construction of Agricultural Demonstration Zone made by countries along the Silk Road, formation of wine Sub-alliance, international scientific and technological cooperative research, preparation of biomass energy sub-alliance, etc.
The closing ceremony of the forum was hosted by Luo Jun, vice president of Northwest A&F University, and President Wu Pute summed up the speech. It can be seen from the exchange speeches of the participants that since the establishment of the Alliance in the past three years, it has achieved fruitful results and expanded from the agricultural field to resources, environment and food processing; from focusing on applied research and technology promotion to basic and frontier research; from students cultivation and other educational exchanges to the expansion of cultural exchange. At the same time, the Alliance has made important progress in the construction of international cooperation platforms, the construction of think tanks, and the innovation of cooperation mechanisms, etc.
This forum is the third forum held since the establishment of the Alliance. It is hosted by the Serbian Institute of Land and Vegetable Crops and the University of Novi Sad. The first forum of the Alliance was held in Northwest A&F University, and the second forum was held in the S.Seifullin Kazakh Agro Technical University. The next forum will be held in Northwest A&F University.
