Wu Pute expressed warm welcome to Gulmira Issayeva and her delegation. He said that Kazakhstan is arid and semi-arid climate, which is very similar to the climate conditions in northern China. NWAFU undertakes the responsibility and mission of supporting and leading the agricultural development in China's arid and semi-arid regions. The cooperation potential of the two sides in the agricultural field is huge. Currently, NWAFU has carried out agricultural technical cooperation with several universities in Kazakhstan and established three agricultural science and technology demonstration parks in Kazakhstan. They introduced varieties of crops such as wheat, corn and potatoes in China, which achieved good results. Since the establishment of Silk Road Agricultural Education and Research Innovation Alliance in 2016, its membership has expanded to 76 research institutes in 14 countries. In the next step, NWAFU hopes to take the Alliance as a link to expand the cooperation between the two sides into a deeper field and jointly launch the agricultural productivity improvement plan. NWAFU will carry out work in terms of programming design, technical guidance, variety introduction, personnel training and so on. A series of technical standards and agricultural models will be formed and summarized, covering different climatic zones in Kazakhstan and extending to other countries in Central Asia. NWAFU will actively respond to "The Belt and Road" initiative and jointly explore the grain production potential of the five Central Asian countries, solve the global food security problem and continue to cooperate in the field of animal husbandry and international students' training.
Gulmira Issayeva said that China has advanced agricultural technology; NWAFU has advanced technology and scientific research team in wheat breeding, animal husbandry, veterinary and other fields. It is hoped that the two universities will strengthen cooperation in the field of agricultural and jointly improve the grain output of Kazakhstan. Meanwhile, Kazakhstan has a huge production potential for beef, mutton and soybean. With the deepening of import and export trade between the two countries, the two sides can carry out in-depth cooperation in the fields of animal husbandry, veterinary medicine, beef and mutton processing, soybean product processing and food safety. The cooperation between NWAFU and Kazakhstan universities has also achieved good results. In the future, both sides can continue to deepen cooperation in exchange of foreign students and experts.
