On June 15th, the Secretariat of the Silk Road Agricultural Education Science and Technology Innovation Alliance organized some experts to hold a symposium to study the speech of General Secretary Xi Jinping at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Bishkek Summit on June 14th to study the general secretary’s speech spirit. The “leaders” of these “One Belt, One Road” construction countries have consistently expressed their confidence and ability to build the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Agricultural Technology Training Base.
Everyone was particularly encouraged by the General Secretary’s mention that "China is willing to establish a Shanghai Cooperation Organization Agricultural Technology Exchange Training Base in Shaanxi Province and strengthen cooperation in the field of modern agriculture in the same region."
In November 2016, NWAFU initiated the establishment of the Silk Road Agricultural Education Technology Innovation Alliance. The members of alliance are a number of universities in Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, and observer countries Belarus and Mongolia. NWAFU and three universities in Kazakhstan have jointly built three agricultural science and technology demonstration parks to jointly explore scientific approaches high-quality and high-yield food.
As the first batch of agricultural support and talent training base for foreign cooperation, NWAFU has held the "Silk Road Agricultural Education Science and Technology Innovation Alliance Grain and Oil Processing and International Trade Training Course" in 2018, "One Belt and One Road" and Soil and Water Conservation and Ecology in Developing Countries training course.
Kang Jile, deputy director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Division and deputy director of the Office of the Secretariat of the Silk Road Alliance, said that the exchange of agricultural technology between our universities and the members of the SCO has a long history. With the promotion of the “Belt and Road”, exchange training is underway. At present, more than 70% of the 276 international students in our school are from SCO members. Among them, General Secretary Xi Jinping has just visited five students in Tajikistan. The Silk Road Alliance has now grown to 76 member units in 14 countries, and its influence continues to increase. The National Agricultural University of Tajikistan has submitted an application, and its principal will participate in the 4th Forum of the Union held in Poland in September this year. The cooperation between the two universities will also open a new chapter.
Guo Dongwei, vice dean of the Agriculture College, believes that Yangling has a solid foundation for the construction of the SCO agricultural technology training base. In the future, NWAFU should focus on the national strategy, co-ordinate the resources of the university and the Silk Road Alliance, concentrate on doing great things, and help the agricultural development of member countries of SCO reach a new level.
