On June 24th, the Confucius China Studies Program – EU officials made up of more than 30 offcials from Education of the European commission, Economic and Financial Affairs of the European commission, Center for European political strategy, European Parliament, European Commission Human Resources , Trade commissioner of the European commission had a visiti to our university.
Yan Zushu, member of the standing committee of the Party and the minister of the publicity department of the party committee, welcomed the visiting group at the exchange center, and introduced the history and current situation of our university, school-running characteristics, outstanding disciplines and scientific research achievements. Yan Zushu said that our school attaches great importance to internationalized education and has signed cooperation agreements and memoranda of understanding with universities and research institutes from more than 30 EU countries. He hoped that the visit of EU officials could further promote in-depth cooperation and exchanges between EU member states and our school. In this way, we can contribute to the building of a community of Shared future for mankind togther.
Richard Sonnenschein, the head of the European Union research mission in China and the general secretary of human resources of the European commission, on behalf of the group, expressed his gratitude to our university for the warm reception and briefly introduced the members of the research mission. He expressed his astonishment at the size of our university and admiration for the high quality scientific research achievements of our university. He also expressed his recognition of the extensive cooperation between our university and the European Union institutions.
At the meeting, representatives of the research group and experts of our university conducted in-depth discussions on green development and ecological civilization construction, soil and water conservation and desertification control, environmental pollution control as well as rural revitalization. After the meeting, the research group visited the Dry Area Water-Saving Agricultural Research Institute. Officials from the International office, school of Grass Industry, school of economics and management, department of foreign languages, institute of water conservation, international college and other units participated in the discussion.
The Confucius China Studies Program was established by the Confucius institute headquarters. It aims to help young people from all over the world to have an in-depth understanding of China and Chinese culture, promote the study of sinology, promote the sustainable development of Confucius institutes and enhance the friendly relations between China and the people of other nations.
