Geoffrey Banda, Minister Counselor of the Zambian Embassy in China, Visited NWAFU

        On April 19, Vice President Luo Jun met with Geoffrey Banda, the Minister Counselor of the Embassy of Zambia in China. Directors of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, College of International Academy, the African Studies Center, the Academy of Humanities Relevant, experts from the college of Animal Sciences and College of Languages and Culture attended the meeting.


     Before the meeting, Geoffrey Banda and his entourage visited the 20th Anniversary Achievement Exhibition of the University Merger and Establishment and the “Belt and Road” International Cooperation Exhibition. At the meeting, Luo Jun welcomed Geoffrey Banda and his entourage and introduced in detail the international exchanges of our school in the “Belt and Road” countries, the Silk Road Agricultural Education Technology Innovation Alliance, and the development of our school with African countries. He said that our school has established close cooperation with many countries in Africa. He hoped that the visit of Geoffrey Banda and his entourage can build a bridge of cooperation and better promote the cooperation between NWAFU and related institutions and enterprises in Zambia. He also invited Zambia Universities to join the Silk Road Agricultural Education Technology Innovation Alliance.

        Geoffrey Banda introduced the history of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Zambia, the basic situation of Zambia, and the cooperation between Zambia and four universities in Shaanxi Province. He pointed out that Zambia is currently undergoing economic transformation, and there is a great demand for agricultural technical talents. He hoped that his visit can provide more opportunities for cooperation between the two parties.

        The participating experts put forward suggestions and opinions on the areas where the two parties may possibly cooperate. The two sides believe that there is great potential for cooperation in personnel training, agricultural technology demonstration and promotion, scientific research cooperation, and cultural exchanges.

     The relevant person in charge of the Shaanxi Provincial People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries accompanied the visit.
